Spring 2026 Block Hop
One of my favorite sewing techniques is improv, so when I joined the BenartExperts Spring 2026 Block Hop, I knew exactly what I wanted to make: a wonky log cabin block.
I love making improv blocks for a few reasons:
1. Every block is unique.
2. The technique is very forgiving - no points to match, no perfect 1/4” seam needed!
3. The blocks have such a whimsical feel.
I have a tutorial on my YouTube page walking you through each step of making my Wonky Log Cabin block. You can find it here.
Color Palette
Let’s talk color palette for a minute - this is one of my favorite (and if it looks familiar, it’s because it’s very similar to the colors in my Find Your Way fabric collection!). Teal is my favorite color, so I started with that, and then added in a couple warm colors from the opposite side of the color wheel, plus a fun pop of green. For this quilt, we’re using Benartex’s Superior Solids collection.
