NEW Pattern Release! That's a Swirl!
I'm excited to be releasing my latest pattern, That's a Swirl!
I have always been a huge fan of swirls. Swirl fabric; I'm in. There's just something so appealing about the motif. So when I figured out I could design a quilt with swirl shapes, I jumped on it.
It's packed with spiral after fun spiral--fusible applique and reverse fusible applique swirls. It uses both types to prevent a shadowing issue if you choose to use a lighter color to contrast with your prints--like the white solid I used below. This means the white square is always on the bottom and the applique is always done using the print!
I designed the quilt using 8" square blocks so that the template would fit easily on one page. This quilt is sized as a wall hanging, table topper or even baby quilt (37-1/2" square).
The original quilt:
Made using Paintbrush Studio Fabrics' Walkabout 2 collection. I love all the detail in these Aboriginal prints! This version doesn't have borders. A shout-out to my mom for sewing this quilt top (she did a great job cutting all those swirl shapes!)
Here's the pattern cover! You can purchase it from my Etsy shop.
With Valentine's Day approaching, I was in a chocolate frame of mind and realized this pattern had great potential. So I tweaked the pattern and recolored it using Benartex's Cherish collection and a wonderful chocolatey brown Wave Texture print to make a chocolate version. The directions for this variation are included in the That's a Swirl! pattern.
Here's the design recolored in Michael Miller Fabrics' upcoming Boho Boutique collection and paired with a navy solid.
And the Boho Boutique pink version:
This is a really fun and versatile pattern--it will work with so many different types of fabric and uses just 8 fat quarters for the blocks (plus background).
